Anna's stats

Well, Anna had an unpleasant-but-not-traumatic visit to the doctor today.  She checked out great!  She weighs 28 lb. 5 oz. (71st percentile), is 36-3/4" tall (98th percentile), and has a 19-1/2" head circumference (93rd percentile).  Her BMI is 14.7.  It's kind of sad to me that they calculate that now!  But she looked great and has all of her teeth, so we can get a break from teething for awhile.  She did unfortunately have to get 1 shot in her leg, for Hepatitis A.  She was very angry and the nurse and at me after that.  But we went to Tee Tee (Harris Teeter) and she quickly forgave me.

Now, we can get excited and keep packing for our beach week next week!  We can't wait!

Happy Birthday, Anna!

Happy birthday (2 days ago) to our sweet Anna Kathryn!  It's both hard to believe that she's 2 already, yet at the same time, it feels like we've known her forever.  Anna is...Anna.  If I had to describe her in one word, it would be delightful.  She is social, talkative, spunky, and curious.  She loves to hang around Mommy and Daddy and copy what we are doing.  She is a chatterbox for sure and hardly ever stops talking!  I am always caught off-guard when we are around people she doesn't know because suddenly she becomes silent...but not for long!  She is becoming very social and loves to play with other kids.  It is adorable to watch her play with her neighbor friends (4 other kids all within 3 months of her age) because they all buzz around together.

Other facts about Anna - she is still sleeping in the crib and has not tried to climb out, but she is giving a very good sales pitch to Daddy to get her a new bed.  She gets into Erin's bed, pulls the covers up, and snuggles right in.  She likes to be comfortable and won't hesitate to arrange pillows and blankets in a nest, grab a book, and lay down for a quick read.  We haven't tried to potty yet, but we may start casually talking about it and get the little potty out later on this summer.  She is into baby dolls, reading, counting, ABCs, and playing outside.  When Erin is your sister, you learn all your letters and can count to 10 before you turn 2 because you hear it all the time.  She LOVES to be out and about, especially going to Harris Teeter ("tee tee"), parks, the Y, and "Cay house" (Caroline's house - Caroline's brothers are never mentioned).  She also mentions going to Grandpa's (and Grandma A.) house and Ansley's house (again, not her brothers) at least once a day.  Anna likes to be on the go.

Anna's birthday has been a drawn-out affair.  She got her present (Sesame Street teaching piano keyboard) and cupcakes from us on Friday, but will celebrate again with Mommy's family at the beach next week.  She's post-cry with the cupcake because the candle scared her.  She can be very sensitive.  Happy birthday, Anna!  We love you!

Bob's Surprise Party!

Bob had a little surprise waiting for him yesterday after going to lunch and spending the afternoon at the junkyard:

A surprise party!  We had about 45 people crammed into our house because of the rain, but I think everyone had a great time.  Bob had to get past some tight security at the door:

But they let him in and all went well.  We had a few appetizers, fruit, veggies, chips, pizza, and the incredible cake spread below courtesy of Sweet Magnolia Cakes & Catering.  It was AMAZING!
