May!

Whew, we survived May.  I often feel that way every May, as it is full of fun and celebration, but it is tiring!  Plus, we are all at the end of the school year, which makes us tired too.  We had a great month and lots of fun events!  We started out the month with Anna and Logan's fun party in Concord on the 1st with the family, and had a super yummy taco lunch with presents and Minecraft cupcakes!  It was a really fun day!

Then, we 4 ladies (including Bella) came home while Daddy flew out of Charlotte for a week in California and Boston...because they are totally near each other, right?!  We had the usual that week, including a late start for the girls on Wednesday, which was nice.  They also had May Crowning at school on Thursday, which was very sweet.  The older kids led a little service in the gym after Mass, and then each class processed out to the big Mary statue outside afterwards.  Bella went to the vet (AGAIN) on the 6th for some spots on her back that were bothering her - they think they are just benign cysts, and the vet cleaned them up and put her on some steroids and antibiotics, which seemed to help.  She hasn't been messing with them since.  We also played at Jimmy and Danny's house on the afternoon of the 6th and got to meet their adorable new kitty cat!

The 7th was Bob's birthday, which we spent partly at Apex Peakfest while he worked the food stand for Knights of Columbus, then had some neighbors over for a last-minute cookout party.  Both were lots of fun, and it was a gorgeous day!  Happy birthday, Bob!

Sunday the 8th was Mother's Day, which was really great too.  Anna got an early birthday present from us - a one-time horseback riding lesson.  She loved it, which was sort of a surprise to us, and has been begging for lessons ever since.  Our wallets are begging for her to not do lessons.

I had a fun lunch with the moms from Anna's class on the 9th and got to help in Anna's art class on the 10th.  We had a fun cookout for neighbor friend Drew's birthday on Friday the 13th, and Saturday the 14th was gymnastics for Erin and another kindergarten mom (different group - these kindergarten moms like to party!) dinner that evening, which was lots of fun!  Bob went back to California the following week, and we ladies stayed busy with our usual schedule, plus a few extra things.  Wednesday the 18th was The Birthday, and Anna enjoyed her Lego set from us, special donut breakfast, and Mommy coming to her class at the end of the day.  So much fun!

The 21st was the big friend party at Crowder Park, which we are so thankful that the rainy weather held out and it wasn't hot.  Everyone seemed to have a great time!

We had our last Little Flowers for the year on the 22nd, followed by a dinner at friends from church's house.  It was a busy but really fun weekend!  Somehow between all of our events this month, Bob has been able to dig and lay a stone border in the backyard.  It looks great and he did a wonderful job!  Anna's class had their end-of-year music program and ice cream (actually, popsicles) party on Monday the 23rd, which was really cute.  We had a wild time (due to little friend Sawyer, who was with us) at the Angier post office on Tuesday getting the girls' passports applications sent in for our big trip to Canada in July!  We are very excited about that fun adventure!  We are going to Montreal and Quebec City and are spending 2 days in each...Grandma A. is coming along, and we can't wait!

Anna had her check up on the 25th, which I wrote about in her birthday post.  She did great!  On the 26th, the school honored the 2nd graders who had made their First Communion at the school Mass, fueling Erin's spiritual fire even further.  Next year is going to be epic for her.  Finally, our busy week was capped off with field day on Friday, and I was able to help out for both classes.  The weather was hot but not awful, and it was very well-organized!  Lots of fun!

Our Memorial Day weekend was mostly a wash-out, but we had Erin's gymnastics and also a neighbor cookout on Sunday.  Monday, we had old friends Chris and Jenny and their cute little kids over for lunch to pick their brains about Canada since they lived in Ottawa for awhile and visited Quebec several times.

So.  May is done.  School is out on Friday, and we are all ready for some down time together!  I foresee lots of pool time this summer, and I also have a list of outings that I have been wanting to try.  Sawyer just started potty training this week, so outings will be more interesting, but we will work it out and will hopefully find a balance between going stir-crazy at home and attempting too much away from home with the potty stuff.  He will be tracked out in July, and then we will have some time with just the girls and our big trip!
