15 months!

Our big girl is now 15 months old! She went to the pediatrician this morning for her checkup (I did not realize they did checkups at this age, but they do). She weighs in at 21 lbs. 12 oz. (28th percentile) and is 32-1/4" long (93rd percentile). Her head is 18" around (50th percentile). She has actually picked up a little in the weight department, which was a relief for me. Perhaps this is why:

He said kids often slim down as they start walking or around 1 year and then will pick back up, so hopefully she's back on the upswing. He wasn't concerned about it at all though.

Everything else checked out good - ears, eyes, nose, teeth, skin, belly, reflexes, lungs and muscles (as evidenced by her screaming and trying to get away from him). She is doing great developmentally and he said she acts just like a 15-month old. Some other kid was screaming bloody murder while we were there and he said that was most likely another 15-month old (ha ha).

She did have to get 3 shots though, DTaP, Prevnar (shout out to Wyeth/Pfizer in Sanford!), and the second H1N1. I think the first 2 could have waited until 18 months, but they try to spread them out a little more. They gave them in her legs this time, but thankfully they did not render her paralyzed like they did to her cousin : )

We even stopped off at library storytime on our way home and she had a lot of fun with the songs and story. She played with the other kids...until she discovered that the library is full of books - heaven for Erin!

Big Sister

Erin is getting into her new role as a big sister. We were asking her at dinner what we should name her little brother or sister, and she pointed at the ultrasound pictures on the fridge! Bob refused to be impressed unless she pointed at my stomach; however, I was impressed that she made the connection.

In related news - or lack thereof - we have not discussed baby names in a month or so...I am not sure why we have such a hard time naming kids (and dogs).

We had another busy weekend! Friday, Erin went out to eat at Red Robin with her neighbor friend Matthew, but I think she was most excited about the balloon - until Daddy accidentally let it float up to the ceiling. Yesterday, Bob worked on her new room while I played with the girls, took them on a walk, and did laundry, and he also changed the oil in both cars during her nap. Today, we went to church, went to breakfast with Dalton and his family, I went to the grocery store and cleaned a little bit, and Bob worked on her room some more...and got it done! Well, the bead board, chair rail, and baseboards are up. Next is puttying in the nail holes and beginning to paint all that. It looks adorable and he did such a great job. Pictures to come soon!

Big Girl Room

Those of you who know Erin know that she's pretty girly. Well, we figured her new room needed to reflect her girliness to its fullest potential. So, we picked out a light purple paint, Behr's Lavender Sparkle. I cannot get the Behr website to let me save an image of the color, so just imagine a light purple.

We also decided to install a white beadboard and chair rail along the bottom of the walls, similar to what Erin's friend Davis has. This is a picture of Davis's room - ours is still in the painting stages:

I am shopping around for a "theme" for the room...I know most people have a theme in mind before they start painting, but I wasn't quite on the ball. Here are some contenders. We'll probably get the twin bed quilt/comforter and get coordinating bed skirt, curtains, etc.

Please vote for your favorite (if you like any of them!). They might seem a little "old" for her, but we didn't want to get something she'd get tired of in 2-3 years. Comments? Suggestions?

Moe's

We have taken Erin to Moe's before, and she has done fairly well with eating parts of our food. Well, she and I went there today while our pest control stuff was drying in the house, and I was reminded that Tuesdays are Kids Eat Free Day (all day long). So I figured I'd get her a burrito and see what happened. She's not a big tortilla person, but she ate nearly all of the chicken, beans, rice, and cheese inside! The kids' burritos aren't that big, but it did look like more than she could eat. I was wrong! I'm afraid she'll be expecting her own little burrito from now on.

New shoes!

Erin got big-girl walking shoes today at Stride Rite...I don't know why I feel like this is such a big deal, but I do. She is super proud of them and walked all around the store in them. The guy said most toddlers refuse to put them on and/or walk in them. She was acting like quite a little diva with them fussing over her. Oh dear!

She also was a big hit at the mall food court. Of course, we had to go to Sbarro because they have spaghetti. I may have been stupid for taking a 1-year old out in public to eat spaghetti, but she did fairly well, mess-wise. We had 3 people stop by to admire how much she was eating. I feel like we should have gotten some coupons from Sbarro for her advertising!
