Roll Over!

Guess who can roll over? She did it the first time in her crib this morning, and then I witnessed her do it again. She went from back to front both times, which is funny because she doesn’t like to be on her tummy. Maybe she doesn’t realize that’s where she’s headed. I tried to get her to do it again, but no luck. We’ll keep trying! Here are some action shots:

Update: Here's a video of her doing it this morning for Dad!

5 Months Old!

I cannot believe it - Erin is 5 months old! She has a little cold right now, but otherwise she's doing great. The past 2 nights, she's slept 8-9 hours straight, and last night she slept 12-1/2 hours! I'm in heaven. She's also doing better with naps, but I might have jumped the gun saying that she will always put herself to sleep in the crib. We are working on it, though. No signs of teeth yet, but she's definitely drooling like crazy. We're so happy that she's found her thumb, as it's helped her sleep so much better and also to be happier in general.

Her other new tricks are putting her feet in her mouth, folding her hands, and propping herself up on her elbows during tummy time. She usually likes to sit in the Bumbo, and sometimes likes the Exersaucer. She still does not like tummy time very much, though. She loves to stand and also to go for walks in her stroller like a big girl without the infant seat! She's still rolling to her side from front to back and back to front, but hasn't gotten the complete 180 figured out yet. And, if we try to sit her up, she will slump right over to the side...but she is getting more steady.

The most funny thing she's started doing is "naked party"...when we get her ready for her bath, as soon as the diaper comes off, she starts wiggling around and laughing like crazy. It's really funny! Maybe we'll take a video, but she might be mad at us in about 15 years if we do.

We are doing pretty well otherwise. I am getting adjusted to work and I am starting to feel like I'm getting the hang of things there. I'm just about through taking these extra classes, so I'll be back to my regular schedule of three 12-hour shifts a week. Wonderful! They haven't said for sure, but I think sometime in June is when I will be on my own, though it may be earlier or later than that. That's when I'll find out what shift I'll be on...we're crossing our fingers for days! I think we could handle nights, but it would be harder on me with the crazy sleep schedule.

Anyway, we hope you are all doing well!

It's a miracle!

TWICE - Erin has fallen asleep in her crib for naps! She's been doing great at night for awhile now, but naps have been another story. Once was last Friday and she did it again just now. I've worked every day in between, so I haven't been able to practice since Friday. I am tickled with this miracle, which it really is in my eyes. I think God is giving us a break since we had such a tough time with sleep for the first 4 months of her life. When she starts to rub her eyes, I turn on her mobile, rock her for just a minute, and put her in there awake. Now that she can roll to her side and suck her thumb, I think she is a lot more comfortable and can fall asleep much easier. I am in heaven. Maybe the day will come when we can put the bouncy seat away for good!

We took an adorable video of her in the bathtub, but I am having some trouble getting it uploaded. Once my technical support specialist can fix it, we'll post it for you all to enjoy!

Other new tricks include being much more nosy...she will turn her head to any noise and figure out what's going on. She likes the Exersaucer a lot now, and also the Bumbo (thanks, Matthew, for letting us borrow yours!). She still likes to play on her back, and sometimes she will play on her tummy and grab toys while supporting herself on her elbows. She's still not a huge fan of the tummy though. She eats off the spoon like a pro, but is still not happy with the bottle.

I got 2 bathing suits for her today, and guess what...one is a bikini! She will try it on soon and I'll post pictures.

Pretty girl

I am not really one to dress up or wear makeup or do much of anything like that myeself...but apparently Erin doesn't mind being dressed up. Here she is last Sunday in her gorgeous dress from Grandma and Grandpa F. She had a busy weekend in Concord, seeing BOTH sets of grandparents AND great-grandparents on Mommy's side, and her cousins too, of course! We didn't take many pictures, but we had a great time.

And here she is wearing an adorable dress from Uncle Chris, Aunt Leslie, Logan, and Ansley. Baby girls sure are fun!

P.S. She is 4-1/2 months old now, but we are still posting the few pictures we are taking in the 3 month album. All this working has put a damper on my picture-taking.

Working It

Well, we are still trying to get into the swing of working/daycare. It's been rough, but we are surviving. The 12-hour days are long for everyone, especially for Bob, who has to work a full day AND take care of Erin before and afterward. This week won't be so bad, as I only have 4 days of work instead of 5 like the past 2 weeks. It will be this way all through March, then hopefully I will be back to three 12-hour days like normal. Some days I think, "why are we bothering with this?", but other days I'm happy to be able to get out of the house. I also think that it will be good for Erin to be around other kids in the long run. I think the perfect situation would be for me to work part-time, either two 12's or three 8's - but I don't know when I will be allowed to do that. The job itself is going well - my preceptor (older nurse who is showing me the ropes) is very nice and I have learned so much in just 3 days on the unit.

So, we'll keep going and see how it goes.
