March!

We had a great month of March!  It always feels a little long with it having 31 days, plus not a lot of excitement during the month.  We started out the month with a fun playdate with Jimmy and Danny on the 2nd, then ballet and a piano mock recital on Saturday the 3rd.  We tried something new on Sunday the 4th and went to a NC State Womens tennis match!  It was a little chilly, but we enjoyed watching all of the action and checking out the new indoor and outdoor tennis facilities.  NC State is moving on up since we were there.

The following week was fairly uneventful with the usual activities, ending the week on a high note with the first fish fry of the season.  The new computer ordering/labeling system that Bob and a few others worked very well and there was a great turnout!  Anna went to friend Zoriana's tae kwon do birthday party on Sunday the 11th in the afternoon and was a very good sport.

Bob had several meetings at church the following week between fish fry work and the hiring committee for a new parish office assistant.  They had lots of applicants, interviewed 4, and selected someone.  Anna had the prestigious honor of being Star Student the week of the 12th, which included several special duties and getting to have a parent come read to the class on Thursday afternoon, which I got to do.  The class enjoyed hearing "Fox in Socks".  Saturday the 17th was busy with ballet and a fun St. Patrick's party with Bob's Knights of Columbus friends that evening.  The kids got to swim in their nice warm heated pool which was pretty fun!  We also had a nice visit on Sunday the 18th with Bob's friend Steve and his wife Jackie after church.

The week of the 19th was more of the same, with the highlight being Anna's first eye doctor appointment on Thursday 22nd.  They had done vision screenings for all of the second graders at school and she failed hers, so off we went to the eye doctor.  Sure enough, she needed glasses, so she got to pick out her frames that day and we wanted an agonizing week and a half until they were ready for pickup on April 2nd.

We had a fun visit from Grandma A. on Friday and Saturday!  She was able to go to the second and final fish fry on Friday the 23rd which was a little less attended, possibly because of the school play that same evening.  Erin had a busy day on Saturday with ballet and then a 4-hour birthday party at friend Enzo's house!  While she was there, Anna, Bob, Grandma, and I tried to see inside the new cathedral in Raleigh, but it was locked for work on the new pipe organ.  So, instead, we stopped at Pullen Park and Anna got a quick carousel ride and playtime.

Sawyer's last day for the quarter was Friday the 23rd, so we are enjoying a few weeks to ourselves before he comes back on April 18th.  The girls' spring break ended up being within his track-out which doesn't always happen, but this year it did.  So, I had a few days to myself before their break to run a few extra errands and help out at school.  Bob was in Dallas the week of the 26th for an annual internal meeting.  I enjoyed being a pancake flipper for the third grade Charlotte's Web movie party!  I also got to go watch the Living Stations presented by the 5th grade on Thursday before the kids were released at 11:30 for spring break!  Erin got her feet washed for Holy Thursday that evening.

Friday the 30th, we were all at home and Bob spent some time working on our dishwasher/sink situation.  He got the sink fixed and we ordered a new dishwasher that arrived on April 4th.  We also spent some time outside and colored Easter eggs.

Saturday, we just had ballet and enjoyed the beautiful weather outside, including a fun family hike at Umstead State Park.

The pollen is out, but that doesn't bother us.  We also made some Easter egg cookies!

The girls are enjoying a low-key spring break with a few fun activities but staying at home, which is what they wanted.  They are total homebodies, but I can't blame them because they do spend so much time away from home at school.

So, it was a good month and we look forward to some fun in April with Anna's First Communion and preparing for dance and piano recitals, as well as the end of the school year!  That year went fast!
