December/Christmas!

Whew, we survived what is known in Erin's and Anna's minds as "the month before Disney World".  Christmas was wonderful and fun, but was definitely not the foremost thing on these girls' minds last month!  It was a really busy month with all of our normal activities and then some, starting out with Erin's checkup, Bob's trip to Boston, the start of our house repair/washing/painting project (that we hired out), and Christmas decorating.

Saturday the 7th, we went to Anna's preschool for a breakfast with Santa.  It was their first time seeing Santa in person, and Erin was a champ, while Anna wouldn't go near him.  Luckily, Santa was still able to figure out what Anna wanted for Christmas.  Also on the 7th, Erin had a make-up gymnastics class AND her performance with the Holly Springs School of Dance in their holiday show.  She did a wonderful job dancing on stage, and we were so proud of her!  That evening, we drove to Concord for Ben's birthday party on Sunday, which was lots of fun!

On Tuesday the 10th, we made gingerbread houses with the little neighbor girls, though I think the moms had more fun than the kids!

We got to go to Daddy's new office on Friday the 13th for a family open house, complete with snacks, crafts, cookies, Santa, and a fire truck!

Thanks to Ms. Kati's free tickets from her work, we got to see Disney on Ice for a second time on the 14th with them, and also went to a really fun party at Mr. David and Ms. Liz's house that night.  They always go all out with delicious food, which we really enjoyed.  Sunday the 15th was big boy Cole's birthday party, which was lots of fun too.  Grandma and Grandpa A. came over to check out our Christmas decorations after the party.  Whew, what a weekend!

The week of the 15th started our 3-week marathon of sickness, mostly cold/fevers all around, but ending in ear infections for the girls/Mommy and a sinus infection for Daddy.  We all powered through, though.  Anna's class had their Christmas party on the 17th, and Erin's class had theirs on the 20th.  Mommy was lucky to be able to go to both.  It is so nice to be home and able to participate in all their activities.  Saturday the 21st, we had a fun party at our neighbor Caitlin's house, and the 22nd, we headed to Concord for Christmas after attending Mass, where the bishop came to bless our new church building site.  Very exciting!  Sunday also included 2 different urgent care visits, one for each girl...luckily, their antibiotics kicked in and their ears felt better quickly.

We had so much fun in Concord, playing with cousins and celebrating Christmas on the morning/lunchtime of the 24th.

We headed back here that afternoon, unpacked, and got ready for Santa to come that night.  He did stop at our house, so we had lots of fun checking out what he left for us, then going to church, and then Mommy had to go to urgent care for her ears!

We played at the neighbors' on the 26th and shared leftover food, and had fun at Jimmy and Danny's house on the 27th, where we exchanged gifts and had a yummy dinner.  Grandma and Grandpa F. came to our house on the 28th, and the girls had so much fun opening more gifts and playing with everything.

Anna managed to sucker Grandma into reading several very long stories to her, but Grandma was a very good sport!  We went out to eat with them and really enjoyed that too.  We took a breather over the weekend, then had a super fun New Years bash with the neighbors, including a sleepover for the girls and Mommy.  What a great way to round out a fun, exciting, and busy year!

We are looking forward to a happy and healthy 2014, starting with the trip of a lifetime (I can say that it is more thoroughly planned than any trip I have ever taken) in just over a week! We wish you all the very best this year!
