Doctor is Latin for "teacher"

Well, I finally gave in to Gina's demands and finished up my schooling. This weekend I graduated from NC State (maybe for the last time, maybe not :P) with my PhD...

Here are some pictures from the events that transpired:

So I'm officially Dr. Bob now. Some of you who read this blog (along with some of your fellow members of society) seem to keep asking the same questions / making the same jokes, so I will take the time to address them now:

  1. Yes, I could write you a prescription for some drugs, but it would be the same as asking my basset hound to do that for you - worthless.

  2. I am now working full time at IBM in the same job I've been doing for the last three years. They are paying me more, and I no longer have the phrase "co-op" after my name, but otherwise it is the same exact job. Plus I get insurance.

  3. Yes, feel free to read my dissertation and quiz me on it - in fact, if you remain awake to make it to the middle of Chapter 4, you might find a surprise for the observant reader.

  4. Yes, I'm glad I did it. Five years of graduate school was definitely a trying time, but I came out of it a better person than when I started... better, not necessarily any smarter :/

Congrats again, Bob. Now how's that rocking chair stain coming along? We need a status picture :)

I got one of those diplomas online. It was easy; I got school credit for my experience! No classroom time necessary!

Hey Dr. Bob, I've been meaning to ask you, can you write prescriptions now?

Has anyone asked you for a prostate exam yet?
