Lungs

Erin can scream. There's no doubt about that! She even screamed for Liz on the phone last night. Monday night, she screamed from 4:30am-5:15am, just to prove that she can scream any time of the day or night. Last night, she screamed for me for about 30 minutes, then again for Bob for an hour and a half! Poor Bob. Sometimes, she doesn't even cry real tears, so it's like she really is just yelling. We haven't figured out what works to console her, so we are just trying everything we can think of. For example, she loves the bouncy seat during the day, but these evening screaming fits are apparently no time for the bouncy seat. Usually she decides when it is over, and then she passes out.

Speaking of her making decisions for herself, we have had so much fun getting to know her personality. She's got plenty of that, too! My personal favorite - she likes to hold one pinky finger up in the air when she's eating, kind of like she's at an English tea. She LOVES to stretch, and she gives Bella a run for her money in the yawn department. She will make happy noises, and she "smiles" after she's done eating. And so far, she doesn't like her arms to be contained/swaddled. Yesterday she started to suck on her hands. She's started to become more alert, which is really fun too.

So, we are hanging in there with the sleep and enjoying ourselves in the meantime. I think it's sinking in for me that she is finally here...and Bella has come to that realization as well!

It really is amazing how they immediately have a personality - and it only gets more pronounced!

Wow, I remember those days! And to think we're going to be doing that again soon...eek! We used to just have to rock Logan in the rocker a lot in the evenings (I think--it was all sort of a blur). Does she like the swing? She'll get it all figured out sooner or later. You probably don't have time to read the sleeping book, but all you can do for babies that young is try to soothe them to sleep (like you're not already trying!) so that is not much help. Just remember it won't be too long before she'll sleep 12 hours at night...

Yeah, she certainly was screaming last night. When Bob first picked up the phone, I really thought it was him faking it to be funny but then realized it was actually Erin. Sorry she's having screaming fits but hopefully she'll grow out of that quickly. Enjoy getting to know your little girl!

Wow, 12 hours at night sounds so nice. I'd be happy with 6! We haven't tried the swing yet, so we need to. I haven't read the sleeping book since she was born, so I need to go back to it! I don't know if Bob can even scream that loud!

Oh, the why is baby crying game! What.... fun. I've watched several friends go through this - I've been told eventually you figure it out, and get some kind of "mommie" sense on how to soothe your child. I certainly never figured it out! One thing I know frequently helps - simethicone. Apparently having gas can really make a baby unhappy! And given she's just starting to eat...
